2007-22 Telico River Falls, Tennessee
Hello All,
This week found us going to Pigeon Forge, TN, where we caught a trolley into Dollywood theme park. We learned this little trick a couple of years ago. Why go to Dollywood and pay $10.00 for parking and then catch a tram to the main gate, when you can park for free at the trolley station. A ticket on the trolley cost 50 cents and they drop you at the main gate. Kind of a no brainer!! Leave it to us seniors to find a way to stretch a buck!!
They had some great entertainment at the park and we saw a number of shows. Probably the one that we enjoyed the most was a bluegrass band called Naomi and the Wood Brothers. They put on an outstanding show.
Our granddaughter loved the thrill rides, but hated to ride them alone!!!!! Go figure!! She conned grandpa into going on the log ride with her--and yes we got soaked! Then grandma went on one of the roller coasters with her (three loops, no less). Seems grandpa is a little too big to fit into the coaster security bars--oh darn! The rest of the day she was on her own doing the rides. The park wasn’t real busy so she got to ride the coasters more than once. We took photos.
Returning from Pigeon Forge we went through Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountain National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip through Gatlinburg as it was absolutely beautiful. They have gone over the top with flower gardens and hanging baskets everywhere. It was by far the best we have ever seen.
Later in the week grandpa asked Heather if there was anything she would like to do. She said yes, “I would like to go back up to Tellico River where we saw the kids going over the waterfalls last week.” Then she said, “I want to go over the falls!!” Well, we had to think about that one for a couple of days. After giving it some due consideration, we relented--hence the picture of the week!
