Pictures of the Week 2008-20
Hello All,
Departing Gallup, NM we continued west on I-40 to Holbrook, AZ where we turned south on Highway 77 to Show Low, AZ. We then turned southwest on Highway 60 and followed it to Apache Junction, AZ where we parked the rig for a week.
Barb’s daughter Shana and family live in the area so it gave us the opportunity to spend some quality time with them. It had been about three years since we were last together so we had a lot of catching up to do. Grandkids are always amazing to be around. They have so many ideas and a whole different perspective on life. And, boy had they grown.
Our first adventure with the family was to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior, AZ. What an amazing collection of desert plants from around the world! Our morning was passed walking the trails snapping photo after photo. We had never seen so many different types of cacti. And, we were lucky because many of them were blooming.

Have you heard of an Easter Lily Cactus? We hadn’t.
They were awesome!!
They had everything from the
well known to the far out strange never before seen stuff.
The ole weatherman treated us
fairly well during the week--if you can call 98 degrees good!! But, at least we didn’t have to suffer triple
digits! On Mothers Day we all went to
Canyon Lake for a day of boating. Canyon Lake is one of the few rare jewels in
an arid land. It is appropriately named
as the lake winds for miles up a beautiful canyon. The grandkids had a ball trying out a new
towing unit behind the boat, riding on the boogy board, and splashing around in
the water. It was a wonderful day and a great visit.
Our next adventure will be to Grand
Canyon National Park. Hope you can ride along with us.
Until next time,
Dave & Barb
