2007-3 Fresh Water Stingrays, Tennessee
Hello All,
Woke up one morning this past week and staggered out and sat down at the computer. Hit the power button and all heck broke loose!! There was this screaming roar of engines!! It took me a minute to figure out what had happened. It seems that when I hit the power button coincidentally a bass tournament started from the public boat launch area across the cove. Have you ever heard about thirty bass boats with 225HP engines hit full throttle all at once? Let me tell you it will wake you right up!
We took a road trip to Chattanooga and went to the Tennessee Aquarium. We found it to be very interesting. They have both salt and fresh water exhibits, each in their own four-story building. Having seen many salt water aquariums it was refreshing to see fresh water species from around the world. Of particular interest were the tiger and white blotched fresh water stingrays. We didn't realize there were fresh water stingrays. This week’s picture is of the tiger stingray.

While talking with one of our
neighbors in the campground he recommended we drive the Cherohala Skyway. He
advised that the road goes from nowhere to nowhere but that it is really
worthwhile. So, we did and found it to be very scenic. The road, which follows
the crest of the Unicoi Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina, took over
thirty years to build. It winds through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests,
hence the name Chero from Cherokee and hala from Nantahala.
In our spare time we have been doing chores on the boat--haven't had time to take her out yet. We installed a new fresh water strainer and purchased a GPS Chart Plotter. Anxious to start playing with it, as it looks like it is going to be a great tool.
We know we have said this before, but it looks like spring has arrived in East Tennessee. The redbud trees are in bloom and temperatures are in the 70s and low 80s. Ahhhhh life is good.
Until next time,
